PunchSheet — Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy covers PunchSheet (“the app”) on Android and iPhone. MSC Labs makes the app and is responsible for it.

In short

  • The app collects no data. We receive nothing from it.
  • It has no account and no internet access: there is no sign-in, no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting and no tracking.
  • Your projects, photos and settings are stored only on your phone.
  • A report or backup leaves your phone only when you share or save it yourself.

No internet access

On Android the app is built without the internet permission, so the system does not let it open a network connection. On iPhone, where apps do not need a permission for this, the app contains no code that connects to the internet. Reports are created on the phone, with no connection.

The privacy policy and email links in Settings open your browser or email app; the app itself sends nothing.

What is stored on your phone

DataWhy
Projects: name, address or location, clientTo organise your snags and print them on the report cover
Snags: number, title, level, area, note, status and the day an item was fixedThe content of your list and report
Photos you add, at full resolution, and a smaller copy of each for reportsTo show them on the snag and in the report
Markup you draw on photosKept separately, so the original photo is never changed
The time a photo was taken, if the photo records itFor the optional photo timestamps in the report
Settings: company name, “Prepared by”, company logo, the word for items, stroke width, level and area suggestionsFor the report and the app's own behaviour

All of it is kept in the app's own storage, which other apps cannot read. It stays until you delete it.

Camera and photos

  • Camera. The app asks for camera access only when you tapTake photo. A photo taken in the app is saved in the app, not in your photo library. On Android 9 and older the system also asks for storage access with the camera; newer versions do not.
  • Photos. Adding photos uses the system photo picker: the app receives only the photos you pick and copies them into its own storage. It does not ask for access to your whole library. Deleting a photo from your library later does not change the copy in the app.

The app does not use the microphone, your location or your contacts.

Reports and backups

PDF reports and backup files (.punchsheet) are created on your phone. They leave it only when you choose to:

  • Share opens your phone's share sheet. The app you pick (email, messages, Drive and so on) handles the file under its own terms.
  • Save to folder writes the backup to a folder you pick on your phone or in Files.

A backup holds the project's snags, photos and markup. Anyone with the file can open it in PunchSheet, so share it only with people who should see the project.

Your phone's own backup

If your phone's system backup (Google backup on Android, iCloud Backup on iPhone) is turned on, it may include the app's data. That backup is run by Google or Apple under their terms; we cannot see it.

Deleting your data

  • Delete one project from its menu, or everything in Settings → Delete all data. Photos are deleted with them.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from the phone, except copies you shared or saved and your phone's system backup.

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete or send you.

Purchases

You buy the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Google or Apple handles the payment; we do not receive your payment details or your name.

Children

The app is a work tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

If the app starts to handle data differently, this policy changes first and the date at the top changes with it.
